This study aims to examine the relationship between the use of trending songs and the level of engagement of TikTok content among university students in East Jakarta. The background of this research is based on the development of TikTok as an audio-visual social media platform, where music has become an important element in attracting audience attention. The use of trending songs is considered capable of increasing content appeal and encouraging user interactions, such as likes, comments, shares, and other audience responses. This study employed a quantitative approach using a correlational research method. The population consisted of university students in East Jakarta who actively use TikTok. A total of 140 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed via Google Forms. Data analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics through validity testing, reliability testing, descriptive analysis, and Pearson Product Moment correlation analysis. The results showed that both the use of trending songs and the level of TikTok content engagement were categorized as good. The correlation test produced a Pearson Correlation coefficient of 0.887 with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Therefore, there is a positive, significant, and very strong relationship between the use of trending songs and TikTok content engagement. The higher the use of trending songs, the higher the engagement obtained by university students in East Jakarta.
