Language plays an important role in the legal process because a lot of information in cases is shared through language, like documents, speeches, recordings, and digital messages. This study aims to look at how applied linguistics and forensic linguistics are related in analyzing language as legal evidence and to explain how linguistic methods are used in legal contexts. The research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method based on library research. The data comes from various sources discussing applied linguistics, forensic linguistics, legal language, and using language as evidence in court cases. Data analysis was done through content analysis by grouping concepts, methods, and the application of linguistic studies in the field of law. The results of the study show that forensic linguistics is a form of applied linguistics that uses linguistic theories and methods to analyze language data related to legal cases. This analysis can help understand the meaning, the identity of the speaker or writer, language structure, as well as the context of language use as material for legal considerations.
