Relevansi Ushul Fiqh Dalam Membongkar Isu Ketimpangan Sosial-Ekonomi Di Balik Novel The Great Gatsby Karya F. Scott Fitzgerald

Penelitian ini mengkaji relevansi Ushul Fiqh dalam membaca isu ketimpangan sosial-ekonomi yang direpresentasikan dalam novel The Great Gatsby karya F. Scott Fitzgerald. Novel tersebut menampilkan kontras kehidupan antara kelompok elit yang hidup dalam kemewahan dan masyarakat kelas bawah yang terpinggirkan, terutama melalui latar East Egg, West Egg, dan Valley of Ashes. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif-deskriptif, penelitian ini menganalisis bagian-bagian teks yang menggambarkan ketidakadilan sosial, konsumerisme, dan kesenjangan ekonomi, kemudian menghubungkannya dengan konsep-konsep Ushul Fiqh seperti maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah, keadilan (‘adl), kemaslahatan (maṣlaḥah), serta larangan isrāf dan tabdzīr. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa fenomena sosial dalam novel mencerminkan hilangnya nilai keadilan distributif dan kegagalan penggunaan harta untuk kemaslahatan, sehingga bertentangan dengan tujuan syariah dalam menjaga harta dan kesejahteraan manusia. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa Ushul Fiqh dapat berfungsi sebagai kerangka etis untuk menelaah representasi sosial-ekonomi dalam karya sastra modern dan memberikan alternatif pemaknaan yang lebih luas terhadap isu ketimpangan pada masyarakat.
