The development of social media, particularly TikTok, has changed the way individuals present family life to audiences. Content that portrays interactions among family members can shape particular meanings of family closeness from the perspective of followers. This study aims to analyze the reception of @fadiljaidi followers toward the representation of family closeness in TikTok content and to examine how followers interpret the forms of closeness presented in the content. This study employs a qualitative method using Stuart Hall's reception analysis approach, which categorizes audience positions into three types: dominant-hegemonic, negotiated, and oppositional. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with @fadiljaidi followers selected using purposive sampling and supported by documentation of the TikTok content under study. The findings show that followers interpret the closeness between Fadil Jaidi and Pak Muh through intensive interaction, open communication, attention, emotional support, humor, and togetherness displayed in various contents. Most informants occupy the dominant-hegemonic position because they accept and interpret the representation of family closeness in accordance with the messages presented in the content. Meanwhile, some informants occupy the negotiated position, accepting the representation of family closeness while considering that social media content is a constructed representation and does not necessarily reflect the entirety of family life. This study demonstrates that followers' reception of family closeness is influenced not only by the messages conveyed through the content but also by the experiences and perspectives of individual informants. Future research is encouraged to examine the representation of family relationships on other social media platforms with more diverse audience characteristics
