Employee performance determines the success of Food & Beverage (F&B) businesses, which are characterized by shift work, daily sales targets, and strict service standards. This study aims to synthesize previous research on the effect of work discipline and work motivation on employee performance in the F&B sector. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Articles published between 2020 and 2026 were searched through Google Scholar, Garuda, and journal websites. Of the seven articles identified, four articles from SINTA 4 and SINTA 5 accredited journals met the criteria and were analyzed narratively. The synthesis shows that work motivation is reported to have a positive and significant effect on employee performance in all three quantitative articles, whereas the effect of work discipline is not uniform: reported as significant in two articles and not significant in one. In one article, the authors’ conclusion is inconsistent with the significance values in the t-test table. A significant simultaneous effect was reported in two quantitative articles. The qualitative article shows that motivation rooted in social values and discipline maintained through collective awareness both shape stable performance. The research gaps identified include limited coverage to a single city or business, a dominance of coffee shops as research objects, and discipline measurements that generally rely on perception-based questionnaires. The findings are expected to serve as a reference for F&B human resource management and future research.
