Hate speech on social media uses language that has the potential to cause social and legal problems; therefore, it needs to be analyzed based on its form, function, meaning, and context. This study aims to describe the relationship between discursive acts and contextual meaning in understanding hate speech from a forensic linguistics perspective. The study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review of relevant books and scholarly articles. The findings indicate that hate speech can manifest through assertive, directive, commissive, and expressive discourse acts, including in the form of accusations, insults, incitement, provocation, and threats. The meaning of hate speech is determined not only by linguistic form but also by linguistic and nonlinguistic contexts, including physical, psychological, and social contexts, as well as shared knowledge. Thus, the analysis of speech acts and contextual meaning can help identify the characteristics, functions, and intentions of hate speech in forensic linguistic studies.
